The verdict
Situated on the rooftop of Westfield, Hurstville, Lilong is bringing Sydney a taste of authentic Shanghainese cuisine, and the best part? It’s like dining from the owner’s living room, that is, if his home was a luxurious 1930s Shanghai styled house.
The menu boasts traditional northern cuisine with Lilong’s specialty dumplings like the lamb and spring onion and the beef and baby celery, but Taste of Shanghai fans will be glad to hear, the xiao long bao – a real hit at all other venues – still makes an appearance.
Completing the Westfield, Hurstville renos, Lilong is just another notch on the belt for owners of Taste of Shanghai, with restaurants open across the city including Ashfield, Chatswood, Eastwood and World Square. Slowly but surely, they’re paving the way to dumpling domination and we’re not complaining one bit.
Pop in and get cosy amongst the retro interior surrounded by bamboo fencing and hanging lanterns and be transported to owner Aaron Mi’s hood for a real taste of Shanghai.
