The Verdict

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again—Newtown just keeps getting better and better. First it was the likes of Belly Bao and Holey Moley setting up shop on King Street and now BL Burgers is getting in on the action. We didn’t need another reason to head for Newtown, but hey, we’ll totally take it.

BL Burgers has decided the one thing Sydney needs is a DIY loaded mac ‘n’ cheese, burger, hot dog and fries (obvs) shop, and you know what, we happen to agree. Anyone who’s spent a Thursday night (okay, okay, lunch time) drowning their it’s-not-quite-Friday sorrows by getting elbow deep in a Blame Canada burger will know this is a big freaking deal.

You’ll be faced with one of life’s biggest decisions here—the choice between 70 different toppings. Our hot tip? Go. All. Out. Really, that’s our life motto, but in this case, it’s especially appropriate. Play your cards right and you’ll be munching your way through a pile of crispy fries topped with slow-cooked meats, garlic crumbs, and (why the hell not) mac ‘n’ cheese. The regular menu is going to be pretty epic but true to form, they’ll also have weekly specials involving things like waffles, fried chicken or whatever else they feel like serving up that week.

There won’t be any rules at this one guys and that’s exactly our kind of place.

Loaded by BL is set to open on 23 October at 170 Missenden Road.
