Beloved French bistro Loulou has crossed the bridge and opened a third outpost amid the action of the Sydney CBD.
Matching the sophisticated South of France flair of the OG Milsons Point hotspot, Loulou Bistro Martin Place sprawls across two levels in an 175-seat space next to its sister takeaway joint Petit Loulou, inside the iconic 1 Elizabeth Street building.
Chef Ned Parker’s all-day menu shifts effortlessly from brunch to late-night bites, offering golden caramelised brioche and bougie Bloody Marys at breakfast, a baguette stuffed with charred wagyu and frites for lunch on the run, $2 oysters and escargots during L’Apéro Hour (between 4pm–7pm on weekdays), John Dory swimming in sauce champagne and the infamous three-day steak frites for dinner, plus créme caramel and fluffy profiteroles for dessert.
The wine list, curated by sommelier Maxime Bellon, features over 350 labels from rare drops to local producers working with French varietals, or there are French cocktails on the cards like a Crêpe-butter-infused Old Fashioned and a Kir Royale made with house cassis.
The space itself is gorgeous, designed by Tom Mark Henry, boasting a sleek silver-ceiled dining room downstairs, a chic wine bar upstairs and al fresco seating for Paris-style people watching.
There are also whispers of Loulou expanding to Sydney Airport’s T3 Qantas Domestic Terminal later this year, too.
