Makaveli

By day, Makaveli is a cool breezy beach cafe. At night, it's a cute cocktail spot with snacks and small plates on the menu.  

The minimalist Italian-inspired spot on Glenayr Avenue does coffee from 6am alongside pastries, paleo granola, and buttery banana bread topped with fresh fruit. From 8am and throughout the day, a neat edit of cheese-topped Brickfield's foccacia slices is available—choose from roasted zucchini and mozzarella, mortadella and burrata, or ricotta and broccolini.

Cocktails roll out from 10am, with co-owner Phill Cooke wielding experience from bars in Greece, Manchester, and Sydney. The Makaveli Marg is made with house-infused chilli tequila and The Willowdene is a bright mix of house-infused lemongrass and kaffir lime gin, pineapple juice, and fresh watermelon—perfect for a post-swim refresher.

By night, Makaveli's Michelin-trained head chef Jessica Young serves excellent snacks and small plates like sourdough with umami-rich Vegemite butter, Taleggio croquettes, and burrata with salsa verde and mint.
