Axe throwing. It's a simple as it sounds. Basically, you hurl a hatchet at a wooden wall with all your might, channelling some kind of hectic Viking lord. And now you can let off steam by chucking an axe in Marrickville.

Yep, the Inner West is where you can unleash your inner lumberjack, Nordic lord, or Chucky. So, round up the group and head Maniax's second Sydney location, stat.

The massive 350-person warehouse has 10 group lanes (with two targets per lane) as well as seven "quick chuck" lanes, making it ideal for both outings with the crew or action-packed date nights. No clue how to hold an axe, let alone throw one? Don't worry there are axe-perts around to run you through it.

On top of all the axes, Maniax Marrickville boasts a luxe Viking-style bar—don't worry, no one is throwing anything under the influence, as you'll drink after you've had your cathartic fun. To soak up the booze, there are pizzas and bar snacks available. And you can bet the Viking theme is evident throughout the sprawling axe-chucking utopia, with leather banquettes, antiqued mercury mirrors, a huge antler chandelier, a chalet-style fireplace, and a throne, of course.

But back to the axes. Maniax has a heap of special offers and packages for you to choose from. There's Monday Mayhem where two people will get a one-hour chuck session and only pay for one person ($45). Or you could opt for the longer, two-hour Date Night sessions ($120 per couple) offered every Thursday – Sunday night that are ideal double date material. Kinda sounds like an epic ice breaker or maybe a bit of tension release after some squabbling.

Whether it's therapeutic, a bit of a fresh fitness style to chuck in the mix, or simply some fun with mates, add a bit of axe throwing to your life.  And the best part of the Marrickville venue is that you are just a short stroll from some of Sydney's top breweries—so make sure you hit one up after your visit.
