The Verdict

Standing proud with their feathers puffed out on display, Masu Izakaya is a little pocket of Japan for your dining pleasure. Nestled on the corner of Liverpool and Dixon Street, poultry puns run a fowl of this place (*see what we did there*), but that just adds to the cluckin’ good times you’re bound to have at this casual Japanese haunt.

At lunch, you’ve got all your staples from donburi, to udon to sushi and there’s even a variety of bento and Masu set options for those who are a little more indecisive. But when the lights get low, diners get the added delight of their yakitori menu that quite literally covers all the possible cuts of chicken you could ever eat. Whilst the hatsu (heart) and reba (liver) may require a little dose of liquid courage courtesy of the well-stocked sake bar, there are plenty of options for those a little more chicken than others. We’d recommend the negima (chicken and scallion) and sasami (chicken breast) just to get you started.
