The Verdict
Monkey’s Corner is a brand new fly-on-the-wall CBD bar serving up damn good cocktails. This one is by the same team behind KOI Dessert Bar (aka The Poernomo Brothers), so you know it’ll be good. The menu is solid, with a substantial selection of spirits, wine and beer, and they’re even serving Orion and Asahi on tap. Yes and yes.
Want more? Oh, we’ll give you more. Alongside the drinks list are simple bar snacks with the Koi team’s signature modern Asian twist, like slow cooked ox tongue shavings with lime and chives, or popcorn with steamed corn and gochujang butter.
The real winners here though are the cocky-t’s and if their reputation as Sydney’s dessert legends is anything to go by, they’ll be sweet, delish and soon-to-be #instafamous. The cocktail list has been designed by China Diner’s Quynh Van Nguyen, and includes signatures like the Pisco Sour—with zesty lemon, pandan and ginger; a margarita with shichimi (a Japanese mix of spices, FYI); and a classic old fashioned infused with smoked ham and pineapple. Yep, smoked ham.
Everything here is all about clean and refreshing flavours, which is just in time for their spring opening. It’s like they planned it that way.
