The Verdict

Inspired by the New Orleans, NOLA Smokehouse & Bar serves top-cut meats cooked to perfection with southern-style roasting. Think dry aged beef brisket, smoked and pulled pork shoulder and spit roasted lamb served with simple slaw or BBQ spiced garlic corn on the side. To perfect your Friday night, NOLA has a strong drink menu to match, including a wide selection of American whisky, wines and cocktails (we’ve got our eye on the Ramos gin fizz).

If you’re not keen on meat, then hit up the variety of salads and seafood on the menu, with flavours from Eastern Europe to match New Orleans’ colourful history. The salads are prepared in much the same way as the meat, and Exhibit A is the charcoal grilled cos and radicchio (with shaved zucchini, smashed peas and ricotta, mint and pecan romesco).

Live music and vibrant décor captures the spirit of the lively city, right in the heart of Sydney’s CBD and with a killer view of the sunset over the harbour, NOLA is yet another excuse to head to Barangaroo for after work drinks.
