The verdict
Sydney’s Lotus restaurant has had a little baby restaurant brother–Papa Bo Min. The casual eatery and bar is a smaller, playful and generally more relaxed version of Lotus and Head Chef John Leong (formerly Billy Kwong) has created a menu with dishes such as the Papa’s prawn dumpling and half BBQ chicken with Papa’s pancake and sweet sour plum sauce.
The entire menu is MSG free (as it should be) and Leong has been careful to source all produce locally to create his dishes that are slightly healthier than the usual Chinese fare. At the bar you can expect to make difficult life decisions, choosing between their house frosé, boozy lemonade (gin, lemonade fruit, lemon aspen, milk oolong and prosecco), which were designed with summer in mind.
Papa Bo Min will open its doors on Monday 12 December for Chinese food, cocktails and tunes.
