It's official—Tokyo's most coveted Neopolitan-style pizza joint is coming to Sydney, due to open in the CBD on Friday 15 May. Pizza Studio Tamaki has been capturing local and global attention since 2017, when founder Tsubasa Tamaki opened the first teeny tiny location.
While it may be a little unexpected, Studio Tamaki has become renowned for their unique spin on the Italian delicacy—part of which involves throwing Okinawan sea salt into the oven to flavour the dough, and sourcing the exact right flour to achieve the texture they are after.
The result is a balanced, light consistency and flavour—so well recieved by the public, in fact, that Tamaki has gone on to open three more Tokyo locations, as well as sites in Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, and now, Sydney.
In terms of what to expect for the upcoming opening, the details are still a little hush—we've got a bit of info about the site, but design deets and menu will be revealed closer to the opening date.
For now, Tamaki assures the the core offerings at his newest outpost will remain true to the much-loved OG dishes—expect their signature Tamaki pie with charred crust, smoked mozzarella, Pecorino romano, basil leaves and whole cherry tomatoes, the popular five cheese offering topped with honey, as well as some more unconventional toppings like pork sausage and egg.
