The Verdict
News flash team—modern Filipino food is officially a thing and yep, Sydney just scored a restaurant dedicated to the stuff. Guys, meet Rey’s Place. This Darlinghurst locale is combining traditional Filipino flavours with local Sydney ingredients and that means you’ll be feasting on everything from small street food-style share plates to heartier options.
We recommend you start at the top of the menu with snack things like BBQ corn basted with chilli and garlic butter, crispy whitebait fritters with spiced coconut vinegar and tempura zucchini flowers. Then move onto the smaller plates (hellooooo pork belly sisig bao sliders) and straight onto the lechon. This bad boy is slow-roasted suckling pig with crispy AF skin, sarsa and chilli-mansi dippings.
If you’re a lover of Filipino food and anything that’s been given the modern spin, this place will definitely be your jam.
