First, Rico’s was a food truck slinging birria tacos right outside Messina HQ in Rosebery. Then, Rico’s levelled-up during lockdown and opened a hole-in-the-wall takeaway taco joint churning out breakfast tacos and taco packs. Now, Rico’s Tacos has gone full-blown taqueria and we are absolutely living for it.
Opening up in the very same space it used to serve eggs and hashbrowns on weekends, Rico’s has knocked down its takeaway window to bring Sydney a dedicated taco restaurant. Breakfast will still be going strong from 8am until 11am Thursdays through to Sundays, with lockdown classics still making strong cameos, three new tortas, fish tacos, chorizo quesadilla, as well as the classic pancakes over weekends. Rico’s has also whipped up a new lunch menu too between 11am and 2pm.
As for what you’ll really want to make sure you tickle your tastebuds with, the fish torta here is fast becoming the favourite. It’s a beautiful bun sandwich of beer-battered fish, pasilla mayo, salted cabbage, and salsa roja. Another must-try is the housemade chorizo torta, a greasy stack of refried black beans, iceberg lettuce, fermented chilli and charred tomato salsa with pasilla mayo.
Keep an eye out because Rico’s Tacos plans to open for nights in 2022—with a booze license and al pastor tacos.
