The Verdict
From the team that brought you the Soda Factory, comes Rosie Campbell’s. Their menu is all about the Jamaican Jerk-style food and this canteen and rum bar is serving dishes and cocktails inspired by Jamaica (duh) with an American twist. Located on the corner of Crown and Campbell Street, this Surry Hills restaurant offers a unique dining experience oozing with vintage charm and tropical vibes.
Dine-in or takeaway options are available so try out their Ja'mac 'n' cheese, Jamaican jerk chicken and rum cakes with a side of kinky reggae rum punch. With a big and bold atmosphere bursting with colours and flavours, their free wifi will have your family and friends instantly jealous of all your foodie pics.
On Friday 20 April, they’re throwing a munchies feast to end all munchies feast to celebrate 420 (get it? 20 April, 4. 20. You get it). Alongside their regular and seriously delicious menu, they’ll also be serving up a munchie mountain involving cheesy Doritos, Rosie’s famous mac ’n’ cheese, jerk chicken and tropical salsa, allllllll served in a Doritos packet, and it'll only set you back a cool $20. The party will kick off from 12pm, so if anyone’s looking for us next Friday, you know where we’ll be.

Bar Demo
Bar Demo is a late-night vinyl bar in Newtown, designed for lovers of a well-crafted drink without the fuss. Owners Claudia Morgan and Olly Churcher (Ex-Double Deuce Lounge) are bartenders by trade, so there’s faith to be had in their curated 60-bottle wine list and seasonally crafted cocktails. The venue itself has grown from their joint experiences working and sipping in some of Sydney’s best bars—Morgan says “we wanted somewhere open late where we could buy a bottle without sitting down for a meal, sink some martinis, listen to some interesting music or have a dance”. Bar Demo certainly checks all of the boxes: open 5pm—midnight, Wednesday—Saturday, with no full kitchen but a dedicated menu for snacks, and a soundtrack of full albums played on vinyl, with each night featuring a curated selection of tunes.
