Dishing up meals and serving cafe drinks from the front corner of a bike store, Rushi brings a Japanese-inspired breakfast and lunch menu to Cronulla.
With a sage green palette imbued in both design and menu, Rushi features a welcoming green window counter with matcha drinks to match. These aren’t simply your regular matcha lattes, either–think an iced matcha with hints of sea salt and maple syrup, or an iced mango matcha for that summertime beach day feel.
With doors open during those early morning hours, the team at Rushi has whipped together the ideal, balanced blend of breakfast goods. You may have tried the fluffy cloud that is Japanese milk bread before, but this cafe's golden prawn toast dish elevates the flavour to a new level, topping it off with a generous drizzling of hot honey.
The Tokyo Traveller bento breakfast is also a special one, featuring freshly scrambled eggs, crispy shrimp kakiage, goat cheese broccomole, smoked salmon tartare and a house-smoked chashu pork onigiri. Laid out beautifully in a sleek metal bento box, this dish begs to be enjoyed on one of Rushi’s alfresco tables while the sea’s horizon peeks from down the street.
For lunch, classics like karaage chicken come served hot, alongside options of Rushi’s spicy salmon and avocado sushi rolls. A master of pleasant surprises, Rushi also rotates through weekly specials alongside their standard menu. Past treats have included the Matcha Choc Chip Cookies and the Chicken Sando, which layered katsu chicken, yoghurt and honey gochujang within slices of fresh Turkish bread.
Whether you’re searching for a light bite or a hearty meal with generous flavour, Rushi brings a taste of Japan to our Australian shore for those specialty drinks and brilliant daytime feeds.
