The Verdict

One of NSW's ultimate romantic retreats, this haven amongst the usual Blue Mountains overnight stays is a must-do for any couple. Set high up on Bowen Mountain, every room (yep, even the lounge spaces and the beautiful bathtub) has a picturesque view, whether it's gazing across to Sydney off in the distance, or into a pristine native bushland from a luxurious ‘tent’ or newly built escarpment suite.

What we love most about Sangoma though is that they're run by a team who lives to eat (so we fit riiight in). There's no stuffy white hat in sight though, in fact, Chef Sam Hardinge brings the best of local produce together on a daily-changing menu, right to your table.

After a long leisurely lunch (or a shorter one, the menu is flexible), there are plenty of stunning walks nearby, including one off the property (so drink up on the wine if you like and tie up those laces!). Of course, we're partial to having a luxurious soak in the bath, but at Sangoma you’ll never want to leave the tub because did we mention it involves the best views of your bathing life?! 

After dinner you'd be remiss to skip a Summer-y night cap on your private suite's deck, gazing up at the stars. Don't worry, you're only steps away from the kitchen so topping up your wine glass is no huge feat. If you're feeling social, get to know the handful of other guests (there are only a few rooms and they are all separated to ensure absolute privacy and relaxation), or if your partner is making special eyes at you, slink on back to your room and light the candles.
