Sunset Sabi
The verdict
From the guys behind Chica Bonita, the Manly waterfront is turning it up in the flavour stakes with Sunset Sabi. Taking inspiration from the izakayas of Tokyo, this Manly restaurant is modern Japanese at its best.
With a special focus on top-notch produce and unexpected flavours, all your usual Japanese favourites come with a delightful twist. Their karaage has a bit of a chilli hit with a togarashi, kombu and buttermilk marinade while the salmon sashimi trades the typical soy sauce for a jalapeno cream and ponzu sauce. And the bar is well-stocked too full of quirky cocktails, sake and beers to keep punters happy.
Now team, take a big deep breath because the next piece of news is big with a capital B. Once you've made your way through everything mentioned above, you'll want to order a plate (or two) of the apple crumble gyoza. These little pockets of joy are filled with apple compote and is sitting on a sweet vanilla custard, blackberry puree, and a bed of crispy crumble. You're already on your way here, aren't you? Of course you are.
