Tacos Muchachos

After popping up in Surry Hills during lockdown and a short run at Sydney Uni, Tacos Muchachos has planted permanent roots in Redfern. Set within Hotel Hacienda on buzzing Cleveland Street, Daniel Hanssen’s beloved taqueria is here to stay—thank the birria taco gods. 

If you're only ordering one thing here make sure it's the quesabirria tacos with slow-cooked beef and dipping stew. This cheesy, rich, and a little bit spicy delight is what garnered crowds to Tacos Muchachos in the first place.

However, there are other worthy dishes on the concise menu, such as tacos al pastor, quesadillas, loaded nachos, and the stuffed Muchacho’s Burrito, where filling choices range from chipotle chicken to adobo cauliflower. 

But does it stop there? Of course not. You’ll also be able to find authentic Mexican drinks including agua fresca—a traditional hibiscus-infused drink—and Jarrito sodas. For cocktails, step out of your classic Margie comfort zone and order the La Michelada: a spicy tomato-based drink mixed with Mexican beer.
