The Caterpillar Club is a late-night bar and music venue in the heart of the Sydney CBD by Swillhouse (the crew behind Le Foote, Restaurant Hubert, Shady Pines Saloon, and other moody date-night and late-night staples).
With an unassuming and deceptively quiet entrance on Pitt Street, The Caterpillar Club comprises a narrow entry with bar seating and cosy two-person booths, a stage-front space with bistro seating, and larger booths in the back, with hidden Tiki bar The Bamboo Room in the rear offering even more exclusive sips.
It's clear from the interior that there’s a big element of time travel, down to the menu which offers crab and avocado cocktail, fish fingers with yoghurt tartare, pig’s head scrumpet (that’s scone x crumpet), and joy-laced knickerbocker glories for dessert.
As with all of Swillhouse’s venues, the bar is pumping with classic cocktails, and there’s also select wines and beers and zombie cocktails on tap.
On top of the 10,000-strong record collection that lines the walls and will regularly be spun by DJs, The Caterpillar Club is set up for late-night live music with a significant stage area—and a disco ball indicating that dancing is very much encouraged.
The Caterpillar Club is now open until late, seven days a week.
