Sparkling in the sunshine at the end of Manly’s wharf-side West Espalande, The Espy is a breezy, open-air bar and casual waterfront dining spot that you’ll want to linger at all afternoon.
Occupying the former Manly Sea Life Aquarium site next to Manly Pavilion, the space had a massive Mediterranean makeover from The Boathouse Group—the crew behind Northern Beaches favourites like The Boathouse Shelly Beach, The Mona Social and Barrenjoey House Palm Beach.
Dotted with white and blue tones, chic orange-trimmed Aperol Spritz umbrellas and seaside picnic tables, The Espy is begging for a spritz-fuelled hangout, whether fresh off the beach or settling in for sunset.
The food offering caters to both post-swim feeds and golden hour grazing with pizzas, loaded prawn rolls, poke bowls, burgers, and battered fish and chips, as well as smaller tidbits like oysters and tostadas.
As for drinks, a custom-built container bar pours beers from local brewery 4 Pines Brewing Co. and refreshing cocktails like spicy marg sodas, lageritas and mezcal Palomas, alongside plenty of wine and bubbles, and mocktails for when you want to keep things light.
Open seven days a week from 11am till late, The Espy is an easy drop-in spot for locals, tourists, families, and even four-legged friends—no bookings required.
