Sydney institution The Grumpy Baker now delivers a bakery by day, bar by night in inner Sydney’s charming Potts Point.

As the twelfth location in its two-decade-long run as one of Sydney’s favourite bakeries, The Grumpy Baker & Bar offers breakfast and lunch from 7am to 5pm, featuring fresh, seasonal produce. Choose from the full café menu for daytime classics like daily-baked croissants, bread and hotcakes, plus expertly crafted coffee using Single O beans.

Adding an exciting spin on the traditional bakery, the menu offers rustic Middle Eastern selections, including Turkish bourekas, challah french toast, and chicken schnitzel in challah with pickled cabbage and Romanian salad.

As the sun sets, The Grumpy Baker & Bar switches into night mode, serving share-style plates like mouth-watering slow-cooked shakshuka, roasted eggplant with tahini, and spicy Moroccan fish hotpots, inspired by owner Michael Cthurmer's heritage.

The drinks menu showcases Australian wines from small producers, plus classic and signature cocktails. Don’t miss out on delectable infusions of Middle Eastern ingredients including pomegranate, rosewater, and lemon.

Taking over the location of the former Macleay Street Bistro (which operated for over 40 years), the space has been completely transformed by Michael, his wife Deborah and daughter Lily with textured walls, tan leather banquette seating, creamy neutrals, and handmade tiles for a warm, intimate setting.

With its seamless blend of artisanal baking and Middle Eastern flair, The Grumpy Baker & Bar in Potts Point delivers vibrant flavours from dawn to dusk.
