The Heritage Room

The Verdict:

Tucked just a few metres from Rovollo's golden-hued dining room at 25 Martin Place, the 30-seat enoteca is the family-run Esper Group's answer to a problem worth having, guests who kept asking for a way in when the main restaurant was full, or a space to make their own for something more private.

"We love the intimate dining experience we've created at Rovollo but due to its size we haven't been able to accommodate the many requests we've had from guests who are looking to either pop in for a wine, or for an exclusive space," says Esper Group director Andrew Wallace.

The wine list leans into Tuscany, big, bold reds like Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino sitting alongside Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the region's most famous white, with plenty poured by the glass. Behind it all sits a working wine cellar stocked with more than 150 bottles from some of the world's most acclaimed regions, vintage Barolo and Brunello included.

Executive chef Cami Feliciano heads up a rotating selection of artisan Tuscan cheeses and meats, alongside a signature ciabatta sandwich and handmade pastas. Everything larger runs through Tuscan fire, cooked over a Josper grill.

Tucked behind the main room is a private dining room built for up to 25 guests, designed with long lunches, dinners and special events in mind. "A lot of private dining in Sydney is an after-thought," he says. "This won't just be a space to gather, it'll be immersive and customisable with thoughtful touches that leave people feeling like the room has been created just for them." In that room, Feliciano's set menus lean further into Tuscan indulgence, bistecca and dry-aged, infused steaks pulled straight off the grill.

The Heritage Room will run midday until late, Tuesday to Saturday, with the private dining room available on request and the full venue bookable for events of up to 50 guests.

The Heritage Room by Rovollo is set to open at 25 Martin Place in September 2026.
