The verdict
Three lads are breathing new life in to a Heritage Listed building in Chippendale with The New Britannia. Mates Scott Davis, Adam Celestino and Tony Francis have cracked the code when it comes to creating an instant restaurant hit, launching an in-house New York-style pizza shop, by the name of Angry Tony's, that’ll even deliver a sneaky six pack to go with your pie, so long as you order before 10pm.
The drinks menu is staggering, when you consider the fact that you didn’t have to put pants on or leave the house. The most difficult part will be choosing between the organic Hunter Valley cab merlot, an Adelaide sauvignon blanc, a 700mL bottle of Jose Cuervo or a six-pack of Young Henry’s.
The names of the pizza are saying what we are all thinking with names like Garlic Breath (roasted garlic and fresh basil pizza) and Ballsy (house made beef meatballs or vegan balls, roasted capsicum, red onion). They happily accomodate Coeliacs and vegans and there are also a number of pasta and salad options, but to be honest, we’re here for the pizza and booze.
This is quite possibly the best thing to happen to Friday nights in the Inner West for years. Maybe ever.
