The verdict
Balmain’s Town Hall Hotel has new owners and a makeover to match. Starting with their upstairs wraparound balcony that will be heavenly come summer, this is the perfect spot to watch the sun go down with your mates after a long lunch. The airy and light décor separates Town Hall Hotel from your average Balmain pub – in a good way.
Their chicken schnitzel is everything it needs to be, with a crispy golden exterior and steamy chicken on the inside. The herb and sea salt seasoning only improves things and a serve of fries and coleslaw seals the deal. If it’s a more refined experience that you’re after, then go for the truffled gnocchi, which shouldn’t need any more explanation, but we’ll give it anyway, since it’s served with pumpkin, kale pesto, peas and gorgonzola.
