The verdict
Nestled on the harbour near Vaucluse, Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel is a Sydney institution known for its Hamptons-chic style fit-out (the interiors are seriously on point), mouth-watering seafood (think alllll of the oysters) and sweeping views of our stunning city.
Just a (quick) ferry away from Circular Quay and Manly or a ten-minute drive from Bondi, the luxe bayside retreat boasts boutique contemporary accommodation, slick waterfront dining and a Beach Club, where all the action takes place. Blue and white umbrellas, hidden flamingos and nautical errrrything set the scene for an endless summer and we can guarantee there’s nowhere else you’d rather be on sun-drenched Sydney afternoon.
And what’s a day by the harbour without some fresh to death seafood to feast on? From Australian tiger prawns and crab linguine to grilled John Dory or tuna poke bowls and calamari, the Italian-inspired menu has something for even the hangriest foodie. For those who don’t want to mess around, treat your taste buds to the sushi and sashimi boat, closely followed by the Piña Colada Trifle to end your meal on a high.
Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel's winter menu is to die for. Featuring goodness like pure milk ricotta gnocchi with mushroom and truffle ragu, bresaola and balsamic cherries with artisan labne and crostini, and roasted salmon with a herbed bulgur salad, you've got to check it out more than once this chilly season.
With the sea and seafood covered, all that’s left to do is drink. The wine and beer selection is strong but the cocktails are addictive. Whether you’re dropping by for a nibble or staying for a long leisurely lunch, don’t go home without trying their famous frosé.
Oh, and if you're after a delicious menu and stunning waterfront view for a conference, birthday, baby shower, wedding or work get together, Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel is obvs the go-to! Their feast menus are packed full of deliciousness, and won't leave you hungry. Just sayin’…

Bar Demo
Bar Demo is a late-night vinyl bar in Newtown, designed for lovers of a well-crafted drink without the fuss. Owners Claudia Morgan and Olly Churcher (Ex-Double Deuce Lounge) are bartenders by trade, so there’s faith to be had in their curated 60-bottle wine list and seasonally crafted cocktails. The venue itself has grown from their joint experiences working and sipping in some of Sydney’s best bars—Morgan says “we wanted somewhere open late where we could buy a bottle without sitting down for a meal, sink some martinis, listen to some interesting music or have a dance”. Bar Demo certainly checks all of the boxes: open 5pm—midnight, Wednesday—Saturday, with no full kitchen but a dedicated menu for snacks, and a soundtrack of full albums played on vinyl, with each night featuring a curated selection of tunes.
