We Three Bar

We Three Bar describes itself as “a bar with food,” but it's so much more than that. Hailing from Melbourne originally, mother-daughter duo Alli and Catherine Gibson Roy transformed a once-vacant heritage terrace on Illawarra Road into one of Marrickville’s most inviting hangouts—part neighbourhood bar and part cultural hub. Even pups get a warm welcome. 

Alli (wo)mans the bar, curating a thoughtful wine list with low intervention offerings from Australia and further abroad, alongside wine-based spritzes, classic cocktails and a few tap beers, with bonus weekend wine pours and monthly cocktail specials. 

Meanwhile, Catherine supports the kitchen team in serving perfectly paired antipasto spreads, medium-sized dishes like the popular chorizo in red wine reduction, filling pasta courses and loaded cheese platters. There’s also a late-night menu with spicy meatballs that have reached cult status. 

We Three isn’t just about what’s in the glass or on the plate; the venue is a big supporter of the arts and local Inner West community, hosting monthly spoken word nights on the third Sunday of every month and the occasional exhibition.

You can even host an event of your own in the velvety, 1960s-London-inspired Radish Lounge upstairs—a nod to the character Uncle Monty’s radish lapel pin in the 1987 film Withnail and I, which inspired the bar’s name. 

The weekly specials are also worth planning around: happy hour Wednesday to Friday from open until 6pm, $12 signature spritzes on Saturdays ‘til 7pm, and pints for schooner prices all day on Sundays.
