There are few things better than an old-school European cake shop like Wellington Cakes on Bondi Road. For more than 30 years, Leslie Brull and his family have been making a selection of predominantly Hungarian sweet and savory goodies for their many loyal followers. For those unfamiliar with the dense chocolate-filled yeast cake that is a traditional kugelhof, the Wellington Cakes version is well deserving of cult status and regarded as the best in Sydney (if not Australia). Their bagels also tend to walk themselves out the door, so get in early to score yourself a poppy seed, raisin or plain bagel for breakfast.
