A fitness mecca has arrived in the heart of Marrickville, and it might just motivate you to attend that early morning spin class after all. From the Fitness Playground team, Wellness Playground is totally transforming the way we view gym sessions by bringing wellness into the fold.

The state-of-the-art gym takes a holistic approach to health that we don’t currently see enough of. Because who said gym bros don’t have time for mental wellness?

After the multitude of Sydney lockdowns, co-founder and CEO Justin Ashley recognised the importance and intersection between both mental and physical health. And so Wellness Playground was born. 

The Inner West centre caters to both across its two-storey space, offering high-intensity fitness upstairs and more wellness-aligned activities downstairs. Head on up for blood-pumping exercises like spin classes, Battleground group training, cardio, and a free weight sections. While downstairs, you can join in on reformer pilates classes, get bendy in a tranquil yoga session, give dynamic barre a go, and get your groove on in the dance studios. Yep, much like life, this place is all about balance. 

It also houses infrared saunas, so you can recover after a heavy workout, have a therapeutic sweat session to get out those toxins, or just de-stress. Plus, there’s a children’s creche for those with kids as well as luxe lounge areas to unwind pre- or post-workout—be it fitness or wellness. Oh, and did we mention it's open 24/7?

And in terms of the spaces and studios, plenty of natural light fills the centre’s sleek minimalist design. Decked out with terrazzo finishes, artful mirrors, and arched doorways, the interior might have you thinking it’s an uber-glam hotel lobby or spa resort. Dreamy. In other words. Wellness Playground is sure to have you gearing up in your best Lululemon set. Great excuse, right?

Wellness Playground is open 24 hours daily, with staff on-site from 10am – 7pm Monday – Friday and from 8am – 5pm on weekends.
