Yum Cha Project is an affordable spot reinventing the traditional Cantonese yum cha experience in the Sydney CBD. Founded by restaurateur Howin Chui—known for his past projects like Ni Hao Bar, Kowloon Cafe, and Senpai Ramen—this 50-seat eatery offers on-the-go or dine-in yum cha experiences.
The menu serves both classic and fresh takes on yum cha dishes, with house favourites like BBQ pork buns, prawn dumplings, and fried rice, while contemporary twists like cheeseburger spring rolls and Peking duck pizza keep things interesting. Desserts include fried custard buns topped with condensed milk and black sesame buns.
Yum Cha Project's drinks menu includes a variety of signature beverages, such as grapefruit green tea and dark-roasted oolong milk tea, alongside a selection of authentic hot drinks, including lemongrass and jasmine tea. There is also Tsingtao and Orion tap beer, and house wines up for grabs.
Designed by Daren Kong, the venue emulates the vibrant streets of Hong Kong, with bright yellow tiling and neon lights, serving as a perfect location for casual dining or unwinding after work.
