$15 Million Is Being Poured Into Rebuilding The Flood-Damaged Wingham Pool

Great news for the Mid North Coast: Wingham Memorial Pool is getting a full rebuild, more than a year after it was left irreparable by the devastating May 2025 floods.

What Happened To The Original Pool

Wingham's community pool was badly damaged when Cedar Party Creek hit record flood heights during the May 2025 floods. Fast-moving floodwater cracked the pool floor extensively, and engineering assessments later found the facility couldn't be repaired.

What The New Investment Covers

The Australian and NSW governments are jointly tipping in $15 million to rebuild the pool, funded under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. MidCoast Council will lead the reconstruction, with the new facility designed to better withstand future floods and severe weather events.

It's part of a broader recovery effort. More than $166.8 million in reconstruction funding has already been approved to repair public infrastructure across six Mid North Coast councils, covering 168 projects including roads, bridges and landslip repairs.

What Else Is Being Funded Across The Region

Since the floods, $667 million in joint recovery support has been committed across immediate assistance, clean-up and long-term rebuilding. A further $56 million in recovery programs is now moving into delivery, including:

• $26.2 million for large-scale clean-up, including river-based clean-up and hazardous waste removal
• $8.8 million for environmental restoration, including coastal recovery works and repairs to the Manning River spur wall
• $5.6 million in extra grants for small businesses and non-profits with significant recovery costs
• $4.17 million for local mental health and psychosocial support
• $1.9 million to expand free legal assistance through Legal Aid NSW

To date, 614 businesses have been paid a total of $9.7 million, with a further nine claims moving through the review process.
