The Northern Territory's biggest music festival, BASSINTHEGRASS, is returning for its 22nd year later this month. To warm you up before the big day, BASSINTHEGRASS has announced a free pop-up event, BASSINTHECITY. For one night only, Darwin's Austin Lane will be transformed into a throbbing hub of music, art and delicious food.

This all-ages street party will be headlined by Nigerian DJ and singer-songwriter Kah-Lo, who is also performing as part of BASSINTHEGRASS. Known for her high-energy dance tracks like Fasta and her Grammy-nominated feature on Riton on Rinse and Repeat, Kah-Lo's electric set will light up the CBD and get your body moving ahead of the music festival. She'll be joined by Taste Club (Tim Benson), Darwin's own Prayer Corby, and winners from the Territory Artist competition.

BASSINTHECITY doesn't end at the music, however. The street will be lined with market stalls and food trucks, along with interactive installations where you'll have the chance to create your very own jellyfish as artist Aly de Groot hosts the Wish Upon a Jellyfish Weaving Workshop.

The BASSINTHEGRASS festival will take place on Saturday, 17 May, at Mindil Beach, with a lineup that includes Australian hip-hop icons Hilltop Hoods, along with The Jungle Giants, Cyril, Meg Mac and many more. The winners of the Territory Artist competition, a live act and a DJ, will also be opening the festival on the Palm Stage and BASSment Stage, respectively. Final release tickets are currently available here.
