Here’s How You Can More Than Double Your Annual Leave In 2025

We all know that feeling we get at the end of a few days off. Just as you’re slipping into a state of relaxation, where pages of a book are finally turned, midday naps go uninterrupted, and cocktails are shaken and stirred before 2pm, the morning alarm sounds its unwelcome buzz and you’re forced to go back to the daily grind.

Thanks to those long couple of years we were grounded at home, we’re guessing plenty of you have clocked some serious annual leave days, so why not start thinking ahead and planning your next big adventure?

That's right, we're talking about how to maximise your annual leave in Australia in 2025.

Now, what if we told you that you could take 18 annual leave days for a whopping 44 days off?

We’ve peeked ahead at the 2024 calendar to see how you can gain some sneaky extra leave, meaning you can head off on those overdue trips away without using up too many sick days or getting in trouble with your boss.

How To Maximise Your Annual Leave Days In 2025 

January 2025

Book four annual leave days from 28-31 January for nine days off using the Australia Day public holiday on Monday 27 January.

Days off: Saturday 25 January to Sunday 2 February
Days of leave taken: Four

April 2025

Book just three annual leave days from 22-24 April to score a whopping a 10-day break over Easter and the ANZAC Day long weekend.

Days off: Friday 18 April to Sunday 27 April
Days of leave taken: Three

June 2025

Book four annual leave days (10-13 June) for nine days off using the King's Birthday (excludes QLD and WA). If you're in QLD, you'll want to take this one from Saturday 4 to Sunday 12 October, or in WA, take the leave the week earlier, from Saturday 27 September to Sunday 5 October.

Days off: Saturday 9 June to Sunday 15 June
Days of leave taken: Four

December 2025

Book seven annual leave days (December 22-24, December 29-31 and January 2) to get a 16-day break over Christmas and New Years.

Days off: Saturday 20 December to Sunday 4 January
Days of leave taken: Seven
