We have big, no, make that HUGE news to deliver care of Lady Whistledown herself, everyone’s favourite sexy historical drama Bridgerton will return to our screens for seasons three and four.
This exciting news will go somewhat to easing our heartbreak after we recently found out that the Duke of Hastings, Regé-Jean Page will not be returning for season two. Honestly, we still haven’t recovered.
The global smash-hit is currently filming the latest season and will centre around Lord Anthony Bridgerton's quest for true love. And while we still don’t have a confirmed release date for season two (it’s likely to be late 2021 or early 2022), Netflix have announced that several more seasons are in the works, which makes sense given the series is based on Julia Quinn’s book series—which includes an impressive eight books.
If Netflix follows suit, that means season three would likely centre around Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and his potential love affair with a servant called Sophie. While season four could tell the story of younger brother Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), who after returning to London from time spent abroad, may finally see his best friend Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) in a different light.
Honestly, we cannot wait, bring on all eight seasons!
In the meantime, why not binge your way through these 20 historical dramas that are just like Bridgerton (sorry, Regé-Jean Page is not included).
