Looking for a messy comedy-drama that makes you feel better about your own familial dysfunction in the run-up to Christmas? Us too. That’s why we’re super excited about the upcoming spin-off movie to the popular Aussie comedy-drama, Bump.

If you haven’t already, you should probably smash the first five seasons first, because the story of the one-off special, Bump: A Christmas Film, takes place between episodes 9 and 10 of the final series (oddly specific, but we’re rolling with it).

In a nutshell, the series followed a high-achieving teenage girl and her Australian-Colombian boyfriend’s unexpected pregnancy. It focused on them and their respective families as they navigated the challenges of young pregnancy and new parenthood in a funny yet heartfelt way. Basically, it’s relatable comfort-viewing with some emotional substance for good measure.

So what’s the Bump Christmas movie about?

Warning: If you haven’t watched the series, we suggest you stop reading here and get cracking, lest we spoil some crucial plot points for you…

Bump: A Christmas Film sees the whole family reunite for a South American holiday cruise. Set before the final episode of the series, Angie is still alive and kicking, and Oly and Santi's baby, Angelo, is just 8 weeks old (eep). And, while they’re all hoping for a beautiful and harmonious Christmas filled with wonderful Colombian traditions, what they get is a chaotic whirlwind of hilarity and dysfunction. It’s silly, messy, and full of heartwarming laughter—we’d expect no less, TBH.

Will the whole bump cast be in the movie?

The short answer is yes.

The entire cast will return for this one-off special, including Nathalie Morris (We Were Dangerous) as Oly Chalmers-Davis, Carlos Sanson Jr. (Ladies in Black) as Santiago Hernández, Claudia Karvan (Love My Way) as Angie Davis, and Angus Sampson (The Lincoln Lawyer) as Dom Chalmers. There will also be several new cast members joining in the chaos, including Sara Marmolejo, Wilbert Olaya, Will Rodriguez, and Lilian Alejandra Valverde.
