When we dropped the news last year that one of the world’s most acclaimed musicals, Hamilton, was coming down under, you (rightly so) lost your minds.

Despite COVID closing down a number of productions, festivals and events, the award-winning musical’s Australian premiere, taking place at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre in March 2021, will go ahead.

And the best news of all? Tickets will officially go on sale at 9am AEST today! So fire up that group chat and get your credit cards out because we predict these golden tickets will go fast. And if you don’t believe us, in the States Hamilton racked up US$30 million in advance ticket sales prior to its opening, so you might just have to beg, borrow and steal your way into the first round of performances.

The Australian production is in the final stages of casting, and there are certainly some big shoes to fill given the original 2015 Broadway production garnered a record 16 Tony nominations and racked up 11 wins—only second The Producer’s 12 gongs.

In case you’re not familiar with Hamilton, it’s a musical about the life of America’s founding father Alexander Hamilton, and the incredible lyrics written by Lin-Manuel Miranda are rapped and sung in an R&B, hip hop and soul style. It’s certainly not your standard musical, and that’s why everyone loves it.
