In a mega milestone step for sustainable apparel and femtech innovation, Aussie brand Modibodi® has launched the world’s first biodegradable period and pee proof underwear. Massive.
Modibodi’s biodegradable brief is the very first biodegradable period and pee proof underwear, scientifically proven to have 97 per cent of its components break down into nontoxic substances at the end of their usable life, with most of the underpant materials decomposing within six months when buried in active soil.
The development of a biodegradable period and leak-proof brief is crucial to help counter the effects of climate change. In Australia, an estimated 500 million pads are used each year and the average tampon user goes through about 11,000 items in their menstruating lifetime. For light incontinence use, on average four disposable liners-pads are used per day which equates to about 1500 per year.
The Modibodi biodegradable brief has also been tested to perform even after 100 washes and offers the same superior absorbency and quality as the regular Modibodi range. Available in a full brief and bikini style, the Biodegradable Brief is available in sizes 8-20 from $42.50.
