A country of such diverse natural beauty, Aotearoa offers something extra luxe all year round. It's the perfect chance to uncover stunning locations and hidden gems, without the hot-spot crowds. And with Air New Zealand’s Cyber Week Sale* officially underway from 27 November to 2 December, there’s no time like the present to lock in flights and head across the ditch.

If that doesn't have you convinced, we’ve put together eight reasons you need to book a vacay in New Zealand, stat.

Star-Gaze In Tekapo Springs

Tekapo Springs after sunset offers the ideal vantage point to crane your neck up at the thousands of twinkling stars dotting the sky, and with a professional guide to regale you with enthralling storytelling and help you spot constellations, you’ll be glued to the sky for hours that feel like minutes.

Here’s the kicker, though: the Tekapo Star-Gazing Tour combines astronomy with mineral pools. So, pack your togs, pull up an inflatable chair and soak in the stars—both literally and figuratively.

Take A Hot Tub With A View

Tub with a view

A hot tub looking at rolling hills, crystal clear lakes and sweeping lush mountain ranges with a vino in hand? It’s a big yes from us. After a day of big adventures or hiking, it’s time to rest those weary bodies and soak in one of New Zealand’s famous hot pools for some seriously mesmerising views down to the unspoiled greenery below.

There’s no place to let your troubles melt away quite like Onsen, a boutique resort boasting an array of cedar-lined pools against the serene backdrop of the Shotover River. After a lengthy soak, make the most of Onsen’s luxurious day spa and lie back as the professionals work their magic.

For a pool surrounded by gorgeous greenery, venture to Secret Spot in Rotorua. Bask in the waters surrounded by the Whakarewarewa Forest while listening to the tranquil sounds of the nearby Puarenga Stream.

For an entirely private experience, an array of Airbnbs around the country feature their very own spas and don’t skimp on the views, either. Great for a solo soaking day or a cheeky romantic couples experience, this is one for the must-do list.

Witness The Spectacular Southern Lights

The Southern Lights are basically nature’s own fireworks show, painting the sky in surreal blues, greens and purples. They can appear anytime, anywhere along the southern coast, and seeing them in person is one of those experiences that instantly makes your travel highlight reel.

It’s the kind of thing people fly across the globe for, so grab a cozy spot under the stars and get ready to have your mind blown.

Visit Middle Earth

Movie geeks simply can't miss fulfilling their wildest childhood dreams and experiencing the sheer magic of Middle Earth at Hobbiton—the famous filming location of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

Wander through The Shire, get lost in hobbit holes, listen to the whimsical stories of how the land came to be, and even head to the Green Dragon on the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour, where you’ll learn all the secrets behind filming and the cast—and sink a flagon or two.

Cycle Along The Otago Central Rail Trail

Pedalling your way along New Zealand’s charming Central Rail Trail is a unique, laid-back way to see the sights. Considered to be one of the easier cycling trails in New Zealand, the Otago Central Rail Trail consists of an unused railway line from yesteryear, which now serves as a smooth cycling path for tourists and exercise enthusiasts.

Along the railway line, make pit stops in quaint towns teeming with lush vineyards, fresh local produce and welcoming local New Zealanders.

Best accessed from Queenstown or Wãnaka, the entire trail takes several days to cover, but you can also choose to tackle it in bite-sized pieces, too. Perfect for couples, families and groups of mates, it’s one you won’t forget.

Chill Out With A Wine

It’s no secret that New Zealand is home to countless delicious wine regions, from Marlborough, Nelson, Waikato and Hawke’s Bay to Central Otago and Lake Wãnaka. Sauvignon Blanc lovers rejoice in the endless variety of gorgeous cellar doors and restaurants scattered in breathtaking parts of the country, where you’ll be able to spend an afternoon with a glass or two.

Along the aforementioned Otago Central Rail Trail are over 15 wineries, each offering delightful pinot noirs, crisp whites and a drop of pink rosé if you’re in a celebratory mood—all of which are produced right in the heart of Central Otago.

Take A Brisk Walk Through Queenstown

There’s so much beauty to be found during a 1.5-hour stroll along Queenstown’s lakeside.

Make your way to Bob’s Cove, where you’ll see a perfect example of thick native bushland and crystal blue waters colliding. If the weather permits, scale the lookout for sweeping lake views and spend a moment catching your breath.

Now you’ve read about the wonders of this unparalleled country, make the most of Air New Zealand’s Cyber Week Sale* and witness these wonders in person.

The sale only runs from 27 November to 2 December, so flights will be snaffled up in a flash. Head to Air New Zealand to hunt down these deals, stat.
