Perth Airport’s duty-free experience has had a serious glow-up, so your post-holiday tax-free splurge just got even easier. Global travel retailer Avolta has officially unveiled its refurbished precinct at Terminal 1, delivering a smoother and more elevated experience for departing and arriving passengers alike.

At its centre, the redevelopment shines a spotlight on Western Australia’s own producers and makers. The new Best of the West precinct celebrates premium local finds, from Cape Mentelle wines to Whipper Snapper and Limeburners whiskies, while the Exploring Perth collection features high-quality treats and gifts made using locally sourced ingredients and packaging that nods to iconic Perth landmarks.

What Does This Look Like?

Spanning four stores across Terminals 1 and 3, the new duty-free precinct was officially opened on Wednesday 22 October, alongside some classy renovations that are changing the travel shopping game in Western Australia.

T1 Departures and Arrivals have seen a contemporary remodelling that sets “a new benchmark for duty-free shopping” and keeps up with the “evolving expectations of today’s global traveller”, according to President and CEO Asia Pacific at Avolta, Freda Cheung.

Passengers will enter duty-free post-security to ensure everyone is getting a look, with a modern walkthrough design that guarantees you won’t miss anything. There will also be integrated technology throughout the store to facilitate personalised interactions with customers.

What Are The Highlights?

Key highlights include Australia’s first Haute Parfumerie, celebrating niche and artisanal fragrances, as well as the expanded World of Whiskies featuring 54 new malts, a refreshed Beauty Destination showcasing premium cosmetics, luxury eyewear from Suncatcher, and a sophisticated new Cocktail Bar

The redevelopment also includes a striking new store inspired by the Six Seasons of the Noongar people. The seasons are represented by six different sections in-store, honouring the Traditional Owners of the land Perth Airport was built on, and celebrating First Nations culture in WA.

Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer at Perth Airport, Kate Holsgrove, has proclaimed this upgrade as “an exciting step forward in delivering exceptional brands, choice, and value” for their passengers, focusing on providing a “world-class retail experience that reflects the best of WA.”

It really is a new era for Perth Airport, and with increasing numbers of international travellers passing through, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
