Notes From The Goat: 6 Summer Streams You’ll Actually Want To Watch

While reading lists and balmy days down at the beach are both summer staples, they’ll have to take a backseat to the TV this season.

Paramount+ has a mega lineup of must-watch shows for you to lock eyes on this summer, and to guide us through it, we’ve handed the mic to someone with real range: The Goat. He’s the platform’s top streaming expert and unofficial mascot, equal parts charming and oddly wise. Together, we’ve scoured the Mountain of Entertainment for six shows even more satisfying than a summer fling.

NCIS: Sydney, Season 3

Now streaming on Paramount+

Despite being set in NSW, NCIS: Sydney isn’t afraid to take the drama interstate, as evidenced by season two’s shenanigans. The NCIS: Sydney crew return from their case-cracking in the Top End to solve local crimes that range from bonkers to nail-biting. Expect (alleged) alien abductions, treasure hunts, and a trip to Antarctica; all in the name of the law. Mostly.

The Goat’s Notes From The Peak:

“Finally, a team that works as hard as I do scaling mountains (or is it cliffs?). The Sydney squad are pros under pressure, and they do it with perfect hair and better banter. You’ll get action, intrigue and shots of Sydney that make me question why I live so far from the water.”

Landman Season 2

Now streaming on Paramount+

From Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, Landman dives deep into Texas’ booming oil scene, where fortune and failure are a match made in heaven. Billy Bob Thornton continues his A-game acting streak as he leads the charge in the world of billionaires vying for a slice of that oily jackpot. And if we know anything about billionaires and oil, we know the drama will be scorching.

The Goat’s Notes From The Peak:

“I’d call this series an apt drama about corporate greed dressed in spurs. Billy Bob’s as slick as a freshly waxed horn, and every episode drips with tension. The moral of the story? Don’t trust anyone holding a contract or a lasso.”

Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4

Now streaming on Paramount+

Jeremy Renner returns as Mayor of Kingstown’s main man, Mike McLusky, the sole power holding the town’s fragile pieces together. With head-diva Edie Falco joining the chaos, season four tackles the rising tension and intense consequences of ongoing gang wars in crime-addled Kingstown. For those who love gritty shows that keep you on edge and white-knuckled, you’ve got four seasons of this roller coaster to enjoy.

The Goat’s Notes From The Peak:

“Renner’s back, meaner than a mule and morally all over the place, and that’s all I’ve ever needed from a show.”

The Gilded Age Season 3

Now streaming on Paramount+

Return to 1880s New York, where the social elite battle for status and dominance under chandeliers and champagne. Season three of The Gilded Age ups the ante with fresh rivalries and fashion that could fund 50 thinkpieces on 1800s couture. Plus, put Cynthia Nixon and Carrie Coon in a TV show, and we’ll watch it three times in one sitting.

The Goat’s Notes From The Peak:

“Every character’s one bad decision away from social exile, and I’m far too invested. If you like drama of the most lavish variety, this one’s pure gold.”

South Park Season 28

Episode 1-3 now streaming on Paramount+

Who would’ve thought South Park would still be as relevant now as it was in the 90s? Maybe more so? The bonkers, beanie-clad boys from Colorado return to roast everything from celebrity culture, certain public figures (ahem), and, yes, even streaming fatigue. Still deadly sharp, the world’s most unhinged animated misfits prove that no topic is off limits.

The Goat’s Notes From The Peak:

“I’ve seen a lot in my time on earth, but nothing compares to this crew. It’s outrageous, offensive, and yet somehow, I’m bleating uncontrollably. A perfect detox for anyone tired of polite TV.”

MobLand

Now streaming on Paramount+

Helen Mirren, Tom Hardy, and Pierce Brosnan in the one show? No wonder MobLand became Paramount’s breakout hit of the year, amassing 8.8 million viewers globally in its first week. Insert yourself into a heated feud between two mob families and watch, mouth agape, as double-crossings and power plays take centre stage.

The Goat’s Notes From The Peak:

“High stakes and low morals? That’s my kind of party.”

So there you have it, six stellar shows personally picked by The Goat himself. Staying in may be the smartest move of the summer once you hit play on Paramount+.
