Say Yes To Rustic Romance In Tassie At This Charming Riverside Stay
Get that index finger fired up, because if you book a stay at The Posthouse in Tasmania, you’ll be taking so many piccies your Insta will be in overload mode.
This romantic one-bedroom Airbnb dates back to the Colonial era and occupies a serene spot in Carlton River, just 40 minutes from Hobart CBD.

The character-filled stone building once served as a post office, and a place where the postmasters and mistresses called two rooms home.
Today, it’s been extended, with a third room upstairs and an extension on the lower level by the river, but its charming connection with the past lingers on.
Head to one of its three living spaces and you’ll be greeted by restored pencil drawings, which were created by the last postmaster back in the 1940s. In another living space, you’ll find velvet couches, textured walls and a wood-burning fire set in an old sandstone wall.

Your kitchen is unique, with a striking brass benchtop and splashback, lime wash walls coloured peachy pink, and 184-year-old exposed hand-cut shingles lit up by spotlights.
Whip up a feast there, and you can tuck into it at the dining table that was handmade by a Tasmanian convict turned freeman back in 1840.

Upstairs, you’ve got a master bedroom with oak windows offering river views—plus a bold brass bathtub that deserves a photo and a shout out of its own.

Outside, be ready for even more picture opportunities. You’ve got riverside decking over four different levels and a seriously impressive nine-metre sandstone bench for gathering on as you stoke a blaze on the fire pit.
Grab one of the two complimentary kayaks, or roll out the restored King Billy pine boat and take to the water if you wish, or you can make a plan to explore the nearby vineyards and try a classic Tasmanian drop.

Those with doggos will be pleased to know this place is trialling pet-friendly stays, although it’s worth noting that the setup won’t suit all dogs, and an extra cleaning fee applies for the furry ones.
