Two Major New Parks Are Coming To Sydney’s North West

Sydney's north west is about to get a serious upgrade in the green space department. The NSW Government has released the finalised designs for two major new parks in Kellyville and Bella Vista, set to open right next to Kellyville Metro Station.

Backed by part of a $520 million investment in the area's growth, Kellyville Centre Park and Bella Vista District Park will bring everything from a BMX track to an amphitheatre and water play areas to the fast-growing precinct. Upgrade works are expected to start in 2027, with both parks slated to open in 2028.

Why The North West Is Getting Two New Parks

The two parks form part of the Transport Oriented Development (TOD) Accelerated Precincts program, a $520 million push to deliver infrastructure, active transport and open space alongside new housing near major transport hubs.

Around 4,600 new homes are expected across Kellyville and Bella Vista as part of the broader TOD rezonings, which have created capacity for close to 60,000 new homes and more than 126,000 commercial and retail jobs across seven transport precincts in total.

Rather than growth outpacing infrastructure, the NSW Government has positioned these parks as the "shared backyard" for the two suburbs, giving new and existing residents a place to exercise, play and gather within walking distance of the metro.

More than 700 people fed into the initial designs earlier this year, shaping parks intended to be accessible, safe and responsive to what the local community actually wants.

What Kellyville Centre Park Will Look Like

Sitting next to Kellyville Metro Station, Kellyville Centre Park will combine sport, play and green space across the site. More than half of the park will be dedicated to plants, shade and native trees, helping cool the space and support local wildlife.

The plans include:

• A shared pedestrian and cycle path connecting to Kellyville Metro Station
• Spaces for pickleball and basketball Nature-based play areas with climbing equipment A BMX track, plus paths for skating and rollerblading
• A central lawn and flexible spaces for informal sport, events and gatherings
• Drinking water stations and accessible toilets
• Landscaping and community spaces that recognise local Aboriginal heritage and culture

What Bella Vista District Park Will Look Like

Bella Vista District Park leans into shaded, family-friendly design, with extensive tree planting throughout to keep the space cool.

The plans include:

A large community lawn surrounded by trees, suited to picnics and casual ball games An amphitheatre for small performances, with picnic spaces nearby A forest-themed play area and a water play area Stepped grass lawns for relaxing and gathering Accessible walking paths linking play, picnic and gathering areas Native trees and plants to create habitat for local wildlife Spaces developed with Traditional Owners and Custodians to reflect Aboriginal culture

When Will The Parks Open

Upgrade works are expected to begin in 2027, with both Kellyville Centre Park and Bella Vista District Park set to open in 2028.

The designs were finalised by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure alongside Landcom, Sydney Metro, The Hills Shire Council and Traditional Custodians, following community consultation earlier this year.
