Autumn brings its crisper days direct to the shores of Byron Bay. And right across the Northern Rivers, there are alfresco lunches, sunset sips and dining experiences calling your name. Saunter straight into the good life, seltzer in hand, and BYO cardi. The new openings across Byron Bay and surrounds are set to shake up your next foodie affair.

Honestly, the last six months has brought a jaw-dropping array of local openings to Byron Bay, from entire dining precincts and waterway charters, to pizza joints and lush European pool bars.

Fire up the group chat and lock in a date at one of these seriously impressive spots. Here are the best new restaurants, cafes and bars in Byron Bay/Arakwal Country and the surrounding Northern Rivers over the last six months.

New Byron Bay Openings At A Glance

New Byron Bay Restaurants

The Belongil

33-25 Childe St, Byron Bay NSW 2481

If walls could talk, the towering timber pillars at The Belongil would have a whole lot to tell you.  Miraculously, this December 2025-opened precinct was built in just eight weeks. Inside, you'll find an astounding fitout that feels more artpiece than dining realm, crafted by a board of visionary collaborators. One that saw a $10-million dollar development to go from dream to dreamy coastal institution.

There are several dining options under one roof. From Feu, where everything is cooked over local yellow box timber and feels almost cinematic. Through to The Bistro which is my pick for long lunches drenched in sunbeams. It's home to a seasonally-evolving menue that celebrates farmers and producers.

And Blind Tiger? It's the invite-only, hidden member's bar. Built around a 300-year old Japanese temple, it's a camera and phone free zone. You don't need to destroy the evidence, if there never was any, right? Or, for more chill vibes there's The Kiosk, a beachside outpost for morning coffee and postswim snacks. Sandy feet encouraged.

Attaboy Pizza

20 Bayshore Dr, Byron Bay NSW 2481

Rob Pearson knows Italian. ICYMI, he's the brains behind hatted Bangalow joint, Ciao Mate. Today he's joined forces with a crew of hospo comrades to open his own place in Byron Bay. Unlike many of Byron's beloved eateries, Attaboy is hidden in the industrial estate, and drenched in blue. Blue chairs, blue trays, blue floor. But in a super chic and minimal way that gives this pizzeria serious swagger.

Expect Detroit-style deep dish slices loaded with local ingredients. Like the Byron Hawaiian, that features Smoked Bangalow ham, lashings of red sauce, a scatter of mozzarella and jalapenos, dolloped with ricotta and drizzled with pineapple saffron sauce. This place is getting tongues wagging as one of the most exciting openings in Byron. The proof's in the dough. It's made from all-Australian flour, given three days to proof and makes for belly-friendly gorging. Delish.

M.V. Jasmine

43 Harbour Way Brunswick Heads Boat Harbour, NSW 2483

When I say 18-metre, multi-level luxury vessel, you say gimme. Byron's M.V. Jasmine is redefining riverside indulgence with the first floating cocktail bar and dining experience in the region. Honestly, when this dreamy experience opened back in November 2025, it immediately took up a lot of real estate in my mind. I mean, the rotating local chefs taking charge is one thing, but the golden-hour margaritas on top deck to the soundtrack of local artists floating along the waterways is simply spectacular.

My pick for sips is the Byroncello Spritz with a mix of vermouth, olive brine and Byroncello made from small-batch limoncello locally grown in Byron. There are a range of cruising options, though the sunset cruise is seriously stunning and features a welcome Prosecco, seasonal cheese board and live DJ soundscape. Best chased with plates of white anchovies with lemon oil, and warm Morelli focaccia, sprayed with olive oil and sea salt.

  • On occasion, and when the tide's right, there are brunch cruises starting from 9am, for a neat $70, departing from Brunswick Heads Boat Harbour

New Byron Bay Cafes

Butterboy

17-21 Jonson St, Byron Bay 2481

Heard of the snaking queues in front of Sydney's four Butterboy locations? Then you'll grasp how big of a deal Byron's new store is. New York style cookies have been having a moment ever since their chunky selves entered the nibbling scene. So it's no surprise that there's a decent selection of strawberry couis topped, chocolate stuffed and butterscotch crumbled bikkies. Though you'll also find a refreshing selection of dietary-inclusive cookies too, like the gluten free PB cup with a brownie base and whipped, peanut butter filling.

Don't skip the drinks menu. There's a salted caramel macadamia cookie milk with your name on it. Yes, the drinks are somehow even more creative than the cookies and it's the perfect pitstop any time of day. Literally. They're open 9am-9pm Sunday through Thursday, and until 10pm Friday and Saturday.

Saint Helena

9/8 Fletcher St, Byron Bay NSW 2481

Smack bang in the middle of town and just moments from Byron's main beach, Saint Helena swung open doors to their refined space in December 2025. Expect bougie coffee, lavish lunching and European desserts. Because it is purely in a cafe that you can order a slice of housemade Basque cheesecake at 10am and count it as acceptable. Get amongst one of the many loaded foccacia toasties. My pick's the sweet potato and whipped vegan fetta, with red dip and rocket.

The brainchild of talented slashie, Katie White, she's the chef slash author slash presenter who brings punchy salads and wholesome dishes to the shores of Byron. Quite naturally at home on the bay, drop in for rich dishes layered with flavours from the streets of Italty and France.

Best New Byron Bay Bars

Roca Cabana

16 Lawson St, Byron Bay NSW 2481

Byron's first luxe pool club opened its social mecca in December 2025 and I'm genuinely dazzled by this Northern Rivers watering hole. The peachy terracotta facade and European style makes this new opening feel extra impressive. Papi's Grill and Raw Bar delivers curated dishes poolside. AKA the ultimate side dish to icy margaritas while azure water splashes around your waist. Yes, you can drink in the pool.

Open from 12 noon til 9pm, daybed bookings are recommended and minimum spends apply. But that minimum spend is $20 so no sweat. Well, maybe a little from the sun lounge, but you're mere steps from a cool down in the pool, so you're still winning big. It's a slow afternoon and easy evening kind of vibe and the DJs go off here. Sun, style, and seriously good food. You'll find it all at Roca Cabana.

Blah Bar

25 Eggins Ln, Lismore NSW 2480

Blah Bar entered the Northern Rivers live music scene with gusto. Less than an hour's drive inland from Byron in the back alley gallery of Lismore, is the kind of stumble-upon-a-secret bar I've been holding my breath for. Showcasing a wide range of local acts and reviving the independent music scene of the region, Blah Bar instantly won my heart, and its no-frills big passion way of being is sure to win yours too. Gigs begin as early as 3pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 2pm Friday through Sunday.

While there are a range of low and no-alcohol options, you can also crack open a can of Pale Ale from local brewery Spangled Drongo and kick back in the lounge area, or grab a pozzie in the music nook. Plates of Middle Eastern food make for the perfect side to your generous serving of heart-pounding tunes.
