A stunning fitout, artfully curated drinks and a standout small plates menu—Burly Bar has all the makings of a top-tier bar, injecting a much-needed dose of vibrancy to the Currumbin bar scene.
Located in Currumbin’s The Warehouses, the first thing you’ll notice when you enter Burly Bar is, well, the bar. The striking mustard-toned epoxy resin bar commands the space, complemented by pops of terracotta and a gleaming polished copper gin still.
Sleek and industrial with luxe finishes, the space is reminiscent of New York-style lounge bars—with a sizeable dash of Gold Coast flair. Designed by the award-winning design house Studio Plenty and brought to life with custom furniture and fitout by the talented Atelier and Glenn Warren Projects, you’ll notice many one-of-a-kind details, like an eye-catching frosted glass gin bottle display wall.
As you make your way upstairs, the atmosphere shifts. A moody, intimate lounge space awaits, with curved couches designed for relaxed conversation, pendant lights casting soft shadows, and deep burgundy tables that beckon you to linger. The double-storey venue, which seats 70 patrons, is set to be in high demand for venue hire.
But it’s not just the fitout that sets Burly Bar apart. The heart and soul of this bar lie in its approach to hospitality, led by the father-son duo behind Burly Gin, Piri and Richard Bennett. Their passion for crafting exceptional artisan gin has been the driving force behind Burly Gin’s rise to local fame.
Their signature cucumber, berry, and citrus-infused gins encapsulate the coastal essence of the Gold Coast and it’s clear that the same dedication and craftsmanship that went into building Burly Gin is now imbued into Burly Bar.
Heading up the kitchen is Harry Robbins (Stable at Cornerstone, Clarence) whose unique flair brings a playful edge to the small plates menu.
The beef tartare with fermented hot sauce and housemade salt bush cracker is a fun take on a classic tartare and other standout dishes include the punchy anchovies with velvety egg butter and toasted focaccia and the delicate nectarines topped with creamy mozzarella and basil.
Now, the drinks, of course. Venue manager Breeana Erica, a seasoned bar veteran with a wealth of experience including at Kirra Beach House and NAÂMi, has expertly curated a drinks menu allowing the gin to shine, nay, sing.
The Garden Smash has already been established as a crowd favourite; a tantalising combination of cucumber, lime, basil, cardamom and elderflower foam that you'll keep ordering again. And again.
The Strawberries and Dreams is a negroni like no other. A four-day process transforms this classic cocktail into a delicate, pink-hued creation with creamy strawberry notes. And if that’s not your tipple, the Dirty Dill is Bree’s refreshing take on a martini that blends cucumber, three types of vermouth, dill and olives.
If you’ve fallen in love with Burly Bar, you can even take a piece of it home with a selection of Burly Gin bottles available for purchase in-venue.
Burly Bar is more than just a bar—it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, creativity, and connection. Whether you're drawn in by the beautiful design, the elevated menu, or the gin-forward cocktails, it’s clear this gem will become a new Southern Gold Coast favourite.
