For all the Gold Coast’s beachside appeal, there’s something to be said for swapping the sand for hinterland views, a panoramic pool and a retreat where you can join in as much—or as little—as you please. The founders of Soak Bathhouse, Niki and Alexis Dean, have acquired EcoView Retreat in Tallebudgera Valley, with plans to turn the Gold Coast hinterland escape into a destination for a new collection of immersive wellness retreats and private stays.

Perched high above the coast, the retreat accommodates up to 30 guests across 15 eco cabins, with incredible views stretching from the surrounding greenery to the Gold Coast skyline. There’s also a seriously impressive lineup of facilities, including a yoga pavilion, infrared saunas, indoor and outdoor gyms, private bushwalking trails and an oversized fire pit designed for gathering as the sun dips below the horizon.

Having helped bring contemporary bathhouse culture to the mainstream through Soak, the Deans are now turning their attention to a different kind of wellness experience. Alongside continuing to host corporate retreats and private groups, EcoView is introducing six signature experiences—TRIP, JOY, QUEST, DREAM, RISE and LOVE—each designed around a different intention, from personal discovery to connection and growth.

Leading the lineup is TRIP – Go Beyond Wellness Retreat, a two-night experience exploring consciousness and personal growth through guided breathwork, meditation, music, movement, shamanic journeying and fire ceremonies. It’s a more immersive proposition than your average weekend away, with guests invited to explore a range of practices in a setting well removed from everyday life.

The remaining retreats will follow their own themes and carefully curated programs, giving guests the opportunity to choose an experience that resonates with what they’re looking for. Across the collection, the surrounding landscape plays a central role, with sunrise movement overlooking the valley, guided hinterland walks and evenings spent beneath the stars all part of the picture.

Food will be another key part of the experience, with award-winning chef Darryn Bonhomme creating menus designed to nourish guests throughout their stay, alongside snacks and refreshments available whenever hunger strikes. And while there’s plenty on the schedule for those keen to lean into the wellness side of things, the setting itself makes a compelling case for simply slowing down and soaking it all in.

While the Deans are bringing their wellness experience to the property, EcoView will operate independently of Soak Bathhouse, with its own brand and direction. And at around 25 minutes from Gold Coast Airport, it’s close enough for an easy escape without needing to turn the journey itself into a road trip.

With six retreats in development and plenty already on offer at the property, EcoView Retreat is set to offer a fresh take on the hinterland escape, whether you’re looking for a group getaway, a change of pace or a few days dedicated to reconnecting with yourself.
