Kirra Beach Hotel

The refreshed Kirra Beach Hotel officially opened its doors on Monday 27 November as a revival of a cherished coastal locale, which has proudly stood as a Kirra icon since 1956. The essence of the pub remains the same—a casual, quintessentially Aussie watering hole which keeps locals at its heart.

Greg Hodge, affectionately known as 'Hodgy,' who ran the Kirra Beach Hotel for eight years before its 2021 demolition, is thrilled to return to what he loves most, with many familiar faces among the staff also returning. Perhaps our favourite part? Hodgy says there will be a tub of thongs behind the bar, for patrons who don’t have shoes coming in from the surf.

While the relaxed atmosphere of Kirra Beach Hotel remains the same, it’s certainly received a stunning new facelift. Spanning an impressive 1300 sqm, the walk-ins only pub encompasses an expansive sun-drenched beer garden with panoramic surf views, lively family-friendly bistro, public bar,  dedicated kids' area, sports bar, and a boutique bottle shop. There’s even an 130-space underground car park, so patrons can easily pop in and out, which any Gold Coaster will know is a game-changer.

With lofty five-metre ceilings and impressive open windows, the laidback venue exudes a breezy coastal-casual vibe, boasting unobstructed vistas of Kirra's iconic surf break. Surfing legends like Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson grace the walls with iconic memorabilia, paying tribute to Kirra's surf culture.

The coastal-inspired menu celebrates local produce and keeps it casual with an array of pub classics, lighter bites, and share-style plates. The emphasis on local brewers and distillers ensures a diverse selection of frosty beers and Australian spirits, with BalterBurleigh Brewing, and Brookie's Gin among the featured names.

Kirra Beach House

Perched directly above Kirra Beach Hotel on the second level, Kirra Beach House is a jaw-dropping 1200 sqm beachfront dining masterpiece, opened on Friday 8 December. The dining, drinking and events destination boasts uninterrupted ocean views from every vantage point, unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Operated by hospitality visionary Dave Galvin, the brains behind kōst, Mozza Mozza and Bird Royale, Kirra Beach House represents a four-year dream finally come to life. The stunning venue can accommodate up to 750 people and seamlessly amalgamates impressive indoor and outdoor spaces, wine and cocktail bars, and opulent event spaces, making it a coveted setting for weddings and events.

A sprawling terrace envelops the entire venue, offering patrons front-row access to Kirra Beach and the panoramic city skyline of Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise. The space encompasses three distinct bars: a wine bar, a terrace cocktail bar, and the intimate Preston's cocktail bar, available for private events.

The terrace boasts stylish beach-style cabanas for up to 20 people, lounge areas featuring live DJs and beachside acoustic performances, and an array of seating where patrons can soak up the views. Kirra Beach House has been designed with premium events at its forefront—the vast, cleverly conceived space can be transformed to accommodate weddings and events of any size, from a formal seated dinner to a chic bar gathering.

Executive Chef Sebbie Kenyon, who heads up kōst in Broadbeach, has crafted an inventive Mediterranean-style grazing menu, featuring fresh seafood platters, wood-fired flatbreads and pizzas and signature burgers, all complemented by a coastal-inspired wine and cocktail selection.

With the grand reveal of the first phase of Kirra Point Precinct, the Southern Gold Coast is poised to steal the limelight as the ultimate beachfront destination. Here, nostalgia mingles with elegance, and modern coastal living takes centre stage. Come November, Kirra is not just a place on the map but a coastal dream waiting to be experienced.
