Michael Tassis knows his way around a dining room.

Before he built one of Brisbane's biggest hospo portfolios (before Fatcow, Opa, Yamas, Longwang and Rich & Rare), he was very much a Goldie kid learning the restaurant game through his family's George's Paragon venues.

Now, 16 years after leaving the Gold Coast, he's coming back—this time with one of Tassis Group's biggest Brisbane success stories in tow.

Rich & Rare will open its second location at Oracle Boulevard in Broadbeach in 2027, taking over the former Mecca Bah site and marking Tassis' first restaurant on the coast since leaving in 2010.

Now, if you know the chef-hatted restaurant well enough, you'll know the original opened at West Village back in 2023 with a menu built around primo dry-aged cuts, live seafood and a wood-and-coal-fired grill worthy of a few headlines. Not to mention, a nine-course Power Banquet because apparently one main course was never going to cut it.

From what we know, Broadbeach will keep that same DNA, just with a little more room to move.

Its new iteration will stretch roughly across 400-square-metres, also bearing a dedicated vino room, a slew of semi-private and private dining spaces, a fresh bar and a completely re-worked kitchen on all the cards.

Kitchen-side, Rich & Rare head chef and ultimate Grill Master Kadu Imbriosi will oversee both locations. The brazilian-born chef trained at Ecole Ducasse in Paris and has previously clocked time at both Char and Fatcow, so there's plenty of stead pedigree behind the tongs.

On the fit-out, Cluid Design is on all the natural stone, distressed architectural elements, warm earthy tones and that low-glow lighting which forms the backbone of the room because is it really a GC venue without ambience? Arguably not.

Rich & Rare Broadbeach is expected to open in early 2027, with more details on the menu, interiors and exact oepning dates still yet to come.
