Summer is nearly here And you know what that means? Afternoons spent at our lush beaches, sipping cocktails and hanging out with family and friends. Plus, it’s the last hurrah before for your new year’s resolutions kick in. So naturally, it’s time to get up to more mischief than you did during the entire year combined.

Here’s our pick for the best things to do on the Gold Coast this December.

Mayor’s Christmas Carols

Throw on a Christmas-inspired tee and head to the merriest carols on the Gold Coast. TV personality Shelley Craft will host this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Carols at the Broadwater Parklands. There will also be sets from Anthony Callea and Kate Ceberano who will croon your favourite carols into the night. Grab your friends and a picnic and celebrate the festive season.

Distillery Tour And Tasting

With all that drinking you’ll be doing this silly season, knowing what goes into your drop is a must. The cool kids over at Graddad Jacks are opening their doors for Distillery Tours and Tasting. Learn the tales of Granddad Jack himself, enjoy a gin on entry and taste three of the finest on the Gold Coast.

Dumplings and Beer at the Blackbone Party

In excellent new two of our favourites are joining forces—Black Hops Brewing and Backbone Bar. Together the beer connoisseurs are celebrating Backbone’s birthday. With $1 dumplings, excellent brews and epic karaage chicken up for grabs, you don't want to miss the Blackbone Party.

Bine Turns 5

It’s not just Christmas Parties giving you permission to get rowdy mid-week. Bine’s turning 5 on a Thursday and they’re throwing a boozy ‘do to celebrate. Nibble on 50c chicken wings, jig to Kate McKay from 8pm and go in the draw to win a meal and drink for every day of 2019.

Life Drawing At Dust Temple

Want to show off your creative flair? Then this event is for you. Head down to a Life Drawing Night at Dust Temple where you’ll have two hours to unleash your inner art buff, while enjoying live music. And because it’s at the Dust Temple, the café and bar will be open.

Ministry of Sound At HoTA

As our nights get longer and balmier than ever, outdoor concerts are back on our radar.  If you haven’t checked it out already, HoTA’s sprawling amphitheatre is an absolute must-do. And this December, the Ministry of Sound Orchestra are taking over for a night of all your favourites. We’re talking Fatboy Slim, Moby and a bunch more. There’s even special guest appearances from Sam Sparrow and Alison Limerick.

Dried Flower Christmas Wreaths At Heartfill Store

If all you want for Christmas is amazing food trucks, markets and carols in the one place, then get yourself to Coolangatta’s beachfront Christmas Carols. Proudly working alongside Southern Cross Gold Coast, this one’s aiming to be a zero-waste event. Even more reason to head down to the southern end.

December sure is the season for picnics. That’s why this year’s Burleigh Christmas Carols are one of our top picks for things to do. Pack up the blanket, stock your picnic baskets to the brim and watch the Gold Coast’s sparkling skyline light up while crooning to live tunes. Plus, there’ll be a load of local food trucks to gorge on, roving performers and the big man himself.

New Year’s Carnival At Surfers Paradise

Why limit your celebrations for the end of 2018 to just one night? Surfers Paradise is throwing a six day New Year’s Carnival. Rides, slides and interesting attractions will take over the coastline. Then on New Year’s Eve, the skies light up with an infamous fireworks display to dazzle you.
