Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly fit another festive event in your schedule, think again. Crack the advent calendar, pop the bubbly and start making inappropriate advances at your work colleagues, Silly season is here, baby!

Sneak a few more hoorahs into the end of the year with our list of things to do on the Gold Coast this December.

The Collective Community Christmas Party

Kicking the month off with some serious Christmas cheer, The Collective Community Christmas Party is set to be a banger. Take your pick of walk up, street-style eats direct from each kitchen, chill out with live tunes and get merry at one of their many festive bars. These guys are transforming their seaside Palmy locale into a winter wonderland, fit with twinkling lights, visits from santa and face painting for the kidlets. Hang around for DJs spinning decks well into the evening and donate to the Christmas present drive for underprivileged kids.

Australian PGA Championships

If you expect the Australian PGA Championship to offer nothing but golf, then we’re gonna stop you right there. Sure there’ll be a bunch of tee-off champs strutting their stuff on the green, but there’s also a bunch of local food trucks, live tunes and DJs to keep you bizay, too. Gold Coast faves like Naked Spud, Garden Kitchen and Fire’N’Dough will be dishing out the goods and tickets are cheap as chips.

When: Friday 1 December until Sunday 3 December

Coming Into Fashion Exhibition

If you haven’t checked out Coming Into Fashion yet, then head along for your dose of fashionista inspo. Conde Nast, yes, the publisher of big name magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair welcomes you into their vault of photography from throughout the ages. Spanning back to the 1700s and zooming right up until the 20th century, this is an exhibition about all things fashun and your trendy mates won’t know what has hit them when you take them along.

When: Friday 1 December to Sunday 18 February

Backbone Turns One

As Tugun’s own Backbone turns one, join these fellas for a massive bash to celebrate the year passed. Fresh beats, giveaways and your chance to win a bunch of cool prizes, which includes free beer. Um, where do we sign up? That’s the best bit, it’s free! Take advantage of dollar dumplings available all weekend long and give these guys a big hip hip, hoo-Black Hops mini tap takeover-ray!

Mayor’s Christmas Carols

Presented by Mercedes-Benz, this year's Mayor’s Christmas Carols at Broadwater Parklands is gonna be a hoot. Shake your jingle bells to Christine Anu, Emma Pask, Prinnie Stevens and a whole stocking full of other rad performances. This one is totes free and will be hosted by Funniest Home Video’s own Shelley Craft. Stick around for the fireworks and maybe even crash a Nine News live broadcast.

Introduction To Whisky At The Scottish Prince

Ever wanted to taste a bunch of whisky and call it ‘learning’? Then The Scottish Prince’s Introduction to Whisky is here to answer your delicious prayers. Taste your way around six whiskies, nod along as you learn about how whisky is made and jetset off to the four main whisky regions of Scotland in true prince style. With two sessions available and only 10 tickets each up for grabs, get in quick for this one, guys!

Steal a kiss under the mistletoe at Burleigh Brewing Co.’s Get Festive event. Three epic food trucks, killer live bands and a limited edition Christmas brew, what could go wrong? Cheers ‘til your heart’s content and get all types of merry with the likes of Barraca, Little Wahaca and Little Havana food vendors while throwing back you choice of 12 beers. Hands down one of the most beer-loving things to do on the Gold Coast this December.

Bring Your Parents To Elsewhere

Ever wanted to point out where you fell asleep for two hours one time three years ago—to your parents? It’s bring your parents to Elsewhere night! A mix of tunes from throughout the eras, finally see pops pull out his retro disco moves on the 70’s inspired light-up dancefloor. Minimum one parent on entry. No, seriously.

Dust Temple Open Studio Day 

Kicking off their first ever Open Studio Day, Dust Temple are unlocking the doors to their creative space and showcasing the work of their incredible artists across eight adjoining studios.  Metal and fine arts, jewellery and even an appearance from Marloe Marloe’s intricate ceramics,  get up close and personal with the artists and ask them all of your burning questions.

Christmas Carols In Cooly

In the mood for a not-so-silent night? Then check out Christmas Carols in Cooly. Overlooking the rolling sea, Queen Elizabeth Park lights up for a night of markets, festive food stalls, singalongs and even a skydiving Santa. We knew he was a daredevil, but this is nek level!

Locals Christmas Party At Burleigh Hotel & Miami Tavern

Get down with the locals at your favourite watering holes this silly season. The Burleigh Heads Hotel is chucking a ‘do with complimentary eats, free ham raffles and live bands on December 15. Mmm… Ham. And, if you didn’t win that ham, score another chance at The Miami Tavern’s partay on the December 22 with free live music and more. These are two of the most local-lovin’ things to do on the Gold Coast this December.

Given this month is dominated by the jolly fat man in the red suit, we know it’s hard to think past December 25.
