If you’re an early bird, there’s good news for you this week as Cherry Pickers are hosting their iconic vintage and secondhand market at Miami Marketta on a Saturday morning for the first time.
Kicking off with an extra-special first look, there’ll be a Bread n Butter photo booth, vinyl DJ and food trucks galore. Head in for free and find your summer staple piece at the best price.

Paint And Sip Your Way Through Gemellini x Frida's Paint, Sip & Mangia Afternoon

We’re big fans of Gemellini, and for good reason. This weekend, they’re swapping lunch plans for painting and pasta, partnering up with Frida’s At Yours for a night of fantastic food, great wine and painting at their Paint, Sip & Mangia event. The ultimate combination for any Italian lover, we think.
With a guided painting session led by an expert, all you have to do is show up with an appetite and good company. Set to be a fun night of groovy hits and unforgettable bands, it’s not just music—it’s an experience. With atmospheric lights and retro visuals, it’s more a celebration of one of the most iconic eras in music.

Sit Back And Relax With The Family At Movies On The Esplanade
Pass the popcorn; we all know movies are one of the best ways to keep the kids entertained for at least a few hours while you sit back and relax. This Sunday, Despicable Me 4 is showing at Surfers Paradise People's Esplanade Pop-Up from 6:30pm for free—don't forget to bring the picnic blanket. We recommend hitting up a nearby Surfers Paradise restaurant while you're there.

Let The Music Guide You Alongside A Wine Tasting In The Scenic Rim
Any indie music lover has heard of the Queensland Music Trail, which made a memorable splash earlier this year in April. This weekend they’re back in the Scenic Rim, hosting an afternoon of music and wine (does it get any better?).
Set in the picturesque Canungra Valley, O’Reilly’s Vineyard is the perfect spot for a laid-back lunch with golden sun and local wines. Local musician Clea and Alisha Todd will backdrop your afternoon as you indulge in a hamper, and you can even wander next door and meet the friendly alpacas of Mountview Alpaca Farm.

Step Into A World Of Dance At HOTA’s Sia-Inspired Ballet
Always our first stop for innovation, this week’s exhibition at HOTA is no exception. Inspired by the music of popular artist, Sia, the Queensland Symphony have designed a bold soundtrack for a contemporary ballet performance.
Perfect for lovers of the arts, this is one of three exclusive music-led world premieres, showing exclusively at HOTA. The event is only here briefly (ending on Saturday), so don’t miss your chance.

Ken Done Is Painting HOTA In Colour This Spring With A Vibrant New Exhibition

Australia’s king of colour, Ken Done, is bringing his unmistakable style to HOTA with a bold new exhibition that’s bursting with joy, nostalgia and serious creative freedom. Ken Done: No Rules will take over HOTA Gallery from this Saturday 13 September to 15 February 2025, showcasing his unmistakably Australian works from the ‘80s through to now, including exclusive pieces from his own collection.
Visitors can also enjoy a captivating animation of a selection of Done’s iconic paintings, offering a new and immersive way to experience his vibrant universe. In a celebration of art, fashion and collaboration, the exhibition also features a selection of dazzling garments from 'Done Zone', the 2023 collaborative collection between Ken Done and Australian fashion label 'Romance Was Born'.

Step Inside The Upside-Down At House Down Under

House Down Under has flipped the Gold Coast on its head, now open at Pacific Fair just in time for the spring school holidays. Australia’s first inverted house lets visitors wander ceilings, dance on furniture, and snap surreal photos in rooms like an upside-down bathroom, lounge, and kids’ play area.
With unlimited time inside and tips from friendly staff, it’s a fun, creative experience for families and friends alike. Tickets start at $19 per person, with kids under four free, making it a playful and affordable day out.

At the end of November, in collaboration with the Mt. Fuji region, Shiro is hosting a two-day event that brings Japanese culture to this side of Australia.

Burn After Dark Returns To Three Blue Ducks For A Fiery Summer Edition

After lighting up winter with their first iteration, Burn After Dark is back to turn up the heat with a summer festival edition on Friday 28 November. Inspired by desert nights and Moroccan magic, this Byron bash blends fire-cooked feasts, live music, and art under the stars at The Farm.
Expect a stand-up fire feast by the Ducks, snacks from The Smoking Camel, and performances from The Foxy Junes, DJ Monsieur Diop and Velvet Smoke Burlesque. With pop-up bars by Common People Brewing Co., Azteca Margaritas and Jilly Wines, it’s shaping up to be one seriously spicy summer night.
