And just like that, we’re creeping into the second month of the year, despite the fact it feels like January only just started. Given the whirlwind it’s been, I was planning a quiet weekend to round things out—but with everything happening across the Gold Coast/Kombumerri country over the next few days, I don’t think I can resist heading out for a bite, a sip and a boogie.

Tuck Into Fried Chicken And Steak Frites With Junior’s Deli X Familiar Spirits
When Gold Coast favourites Junior’s Deli and Familiar Spirits Distillery come together for a food and beverage collaboration, you just know it’s going to be a good time. Their fried chicken extravaganza back in August was an absolute hoot so prepare your tastebuds for a similar affair.
Junior’s will be covering the food side of things with numbers like juicy, tender steak frites, while Familiar Spirits will be making and shaking some truly delicious cocktails. Be sure to book your spot quickly, this is one collaboration you don’t want to miss.

Die-hard EDM fans, this is the party for you. Internationally acclaimed producer Fred Again’s euphoric, emotion-fuelled dance tracks have taken over festival stages and sold-out venues across the globe, and now you can celebrate the sound at an appreciation party at Miami Marketta.
Expect DJs spinning favourites from across his catalogue alongside sonically similar artists to keep the energy (and the heartrate) high. Grab your mates, grab your tickets and get ready to boogie the night away.

Grab The Family For A Free Flick Under The Stars
Round up your crew, pack your picnic rug and settle in for a feel-good evening under the moonlit sky. Movies Under the Stars is lighting up Albert Park with a free community screening of A Minecraft Movie, making it a top-tier plan for kids (and nostalgic grown-ups).
Gates open at 6pm so you can snag a good patch of grass before the film rolls at 7pm. Fresh air, family time and a blockbuster on the big screen—plus it looks like the rain might hold off.

Step Into An Immersive Night Of Performance At Mo's
After Hourz is returning to Mo’s Desert Clubhouse for SZN3, an evening of seriously impressive dance performances. Known for high-energy showcases soundtracked with DJ spun beats, this is one of those “you had to be there” kind of events.
Expect jaw-dropping moves, incredible talent, and a fun way to connect with a likeminded community. If you love Step Up as much as I do, you won’t want to miss this.

Experience A Taste Of Bridgerton At The Cheesecake Shop
Dearest gentle reader, Burleigh Heads is getting a delicious dose of Regency romance this Saturday as The Cheesecake Shop transforms into a full-blown Bridgerton-inspired affair. To mark its collab with Netflix and the launch of the ton’s treat box, expect period-costumed performers, dreamy florals and a high-tea-style dessert spread worthy of Lady Whistledown’s attention.
The limited-edition box features fanciful bites like wildberry waltz cheesecake sticks, lilac debutante cupcakes and masquerade macaroons. Swing by from 10.30am for sweet treats and photo ops, with a side of sugar rush.

The Growlers Are Hitting Miami Marketta
After a six-year touring hiatus, cult favourites The Growlers are officially back—and they’re bringing their sun-soaked, surf-psyched sound to Miami Marketta. Pioneers of the beloved “Beach Goth” aesthetic, the band returns with that unmistakable blend of garage grit and coastal cool, fronted by the ever-charismatic Brooks Nielsen.
Expect a set that nods to the hits, teases fresh material, and celebrates a long-awaited reunion that fans have been counting down for. With Melbourne’s The Grogans along for the ride, this one’s shaping up to be a seriously special night.

Sway The Afternoon Away At This Blues Gig
If you like your live music with a whole lot of soul and a side of goosebumps, clear your schedule for this one. Four powerhouse female-fronted blues acts—The Jacqui Walker Band, Becs Bruce Duo, Megan Young & Strange Crew, and Rebecca Muino & Sugar Game—are joining forces for a showcase of groove and seriously big vocals.
It’s an all-ages matinee, so you can bring the fam along for an afternoon of proper, heart-thumping blues. Roll in from midday for eats, drinks, and a celebration of the Gold Coast’s fiercest women in blues.

The Sky Is The Limit At HOTA’s Whimsical New Children's Exhibition

HOTA continues to wow their audience with the Children’s Gallery, and the new iteration ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Art’ is no exhibition. As you may have guessed, the exhibition features a lot of clouds, inviting viewers to look up and explore.
But it’s not just any gallery; this feature invites a playful, hands-on experience to its younger audience. Children can explore the Daydream Zone, play Art Detective or get creative with crafting stations.
