Southport is slowly but surely making a bigger name for itself as a Gold Coast hub for international food.

Rossa Pizzeria & Bar is yet another addition to the crowd, opening this May at recently-opened TRYP by Wyndham Southport. Designed to be a casual and social spot for some authentic Italian classics, this is the new place to be for any pizza lover.

Operating independently from the adjoining Amore Restaurant, Rossa is led by Head Chef Robert McWhinnie and Pizza Chef Jack Montefiore, who are setting out to embrace comfort, quality and creativity in their menu.

While this may come as a shock, this pizzeria does in fact serve wood-fired pizza as menu highlight—the Gricia is standing out with a cacio e pepe base, mozzarella, guanciale, grated pecorino, and black pepper. If you’re a sweet tooth, grab a nutella and berry pizza (that you can order in a heart shape for an extra few dollars). Enough said, seriously.

You'll also find comfort favourites like Polpettini meatballs, calzones and lasagna on the playful menu. As difficult as it may be, try to save room for the housemade tiramisu.

The kids are equally welcome, with gelato provided by the local favourite, Tamborine Mountain Gelato Co.

With live entertainment running every Thursday through until Saturday, grab some friends or the family and head to Southport for some Italian warmth.
