If some fresh kicks are on the agenda this Christmas, for you or for your nearest and dearest, we reckon it’s time to skip the standard fast fashion route—and pick a planet-friendly pair instead.

Born in 2019, Australian-based sustainable sneaker brand BLAC needs to be on your radar if you’re looking to take positive, planet-saving steps when it comes to style.

The minimalist-style "Original" sneaker is the brand's hero shoe, and it's available in classic bright white and inky black. Each pair has been ethically made with natural hemp yarn and BCI-certified cotton, and high-quality non-toxic memory foam for pure comfort too.

Basically, these eco-friendly kicks are a wardrobe essential, perfect for everyday wear, from your morning walk, through to brunch with mates, weekend errands, and a session at the gym.

The best part, however, is that from now until the end of 2021, BLAC will be planting not one, not two, but an amazing five trees for every pair of sneakers purchased, with the aim of helping to rebuild habitats affected by fire, excessive logging, and the many other deforestation challenges facing Australia right now.

The initiative is a part of BLAC's commitment to better fashion practices—a program they've dubbed "Positive Steps" that's also included donating excess stock, carbon offsets, and more. So, if you're looking to gift a bit more consciously this Christmas—these kicks are absolutely it.
