Some people say the best things in life are free, but we like to say the best things happen after dark. Especially in Melbourne, where the sun goes down and you can feel adventure fill the air. And adventures you shall have.
We’ve partnered with Samsung to give culture-seekers a taste of the best things to do in Melbourne at night. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Series and its seriously impressive nighttime photography features are the perfect companions to late nights exploring the city. This is how memories are made, and kept, people. Make sure you keep an eye out for Samsung's murals while you're out and about—and capture them with its Galaxy S22 Series, of course.
Laugh Out Loud At Comedy Republic
Melbourne’s comedy scene is thriving thanks to venues like Comedy Republic, where local beers and craft cocktails are a prelude to some serious LOLs. The stage has been graced by many a comedy great; we’re talking Rhys Nicholson and Celia Paquola to namedrop a few. You can catch some stand-up comedy, be blown away by the daring improvisers, or even enjoy a one-person show by up-and-coming comedy talent. They also have great toasties.
Freak Yourself Out At Melbourne Gaol
If you’ve watched (or listened to) enough true crime content to thicken your skin over the years, you’ll be well-prepared for the blood-chilling night tour at Old Melbourne Gaol. Armed with many mysterious myths, the guided tour will take you through the narrow, winding passages by lamplight and the tour guide will regale you with harrowing tales of the site’s storied history. Expect the unexplained, the unnerving and the downright freaky. Safe to say you'll be sleeping with the lights on afterwards.
Catch A Must-See Play
You’re never short of unbelievable theatre options in Melbourne. But the tail-end of 2022 is showing the past two years how it’s done with some of the best plays and musicals to hit Australia in a long time. Catch the recently shortened but still dazzling Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at The Princess Theatre for a romping good time. Or, check out Girls & Boys, Kate Champion’s powerful and timely one-woman show at MTC that will stay with you well into the night.
Catch Live Music With Your Mates
Thank the tattered carpet at the pub, because live music is back in our lives, consistently. Make up for all that lost time and check out some of the acts coming to Melbourne this year. Fresh off the Glastonbury line-up, Houston trio Khruangbin will be gracing the stage at Sidney Myer Music Bowl in early December. Of course, The Forum has some ripper acts in the coming months; take your pick from Caribou, Julia Jacklin and (no joke) Hanson. If intimate gigs or up-and-comers are more your style, there’s always something happening after dark at Richmond’s Corner Hotel.
Embrace Your Inner Child At Luna Park
Some people say “dance like no one’s watching”, we prefer the proverb, “eat fairy floss and ride the dodgems like a queue of impatient children aren’t waiting”. You can do all that at Luna Park because it's open ‘till 10pm Friday–Sunday for all of the nostalgic fun. Daredevils will go nuts for the swinging Pharaoh’s Curse (pics or it didn’t happen), but if you’re happy to grab a corn dog, throw some balls in a clown’s mouth then loop around on good old Betty Choo Choo, that’s cool, too.
Ready to take embrace Sydney's after-dark adventures? You can capture your after-dark mems with Samsung's Galaxy S22 Series. Its nightography feature takes killer snaps and videos in low light. To find out more, head over here.
